Taiwan Hot Air Balloon Festival is one of the biggest events in summer. This year, 2016, Taiwan Hot Air Balloon Festival took place in Luye Gaotai, Taitung. Thirty-one hot-air balloon teams from 14 countries join the days of competition during the festival.

This century-old temple is also known as Hsiangong Temple. Its design includes Japanese and Chinese elements, and from the stage in front there is an excellent view. It is a popular scenic spot for Xizhi residents.

The NMMBA is an aquarium located on the southern coast of Taiwan near Kenting in Checheng Township, Taiwan. The aim of establishing such museum, apart from biological education, commerce, culture, and recreation, is the respect for the environment. All service and exhibition areas are about more than 60 hectares, and the main facilities can be divided into 3 parts. Waters of Taiwan: Travel with a little drop, learning the water ecology from high mountains through rivermouths to the sea in Taiwan, and to see the whale shark, the biggest fish in the world. Coral Kingdom Pavilion: Housing an 80 meter underwater tunnel, the exhibit presents varied coral reef ecology in South China Sea. Waters of the World: Showing on the Earth extremely ancient, lofty, deep and cold ocean ecology topics, wherein the most characteristic part is the 10-meter-high acrylic viewing window of the Giant Kelp Tank, which is the highest in the world.

Located at the highest elevation point on the Northern Cross-Island Highway, at approximately 1700 meters above sea level, the Mingchih Forest Recreation Area, and neighboring Cilan Forest Recreation Area, are both managed by the Yilan Forestry Bureau. This park is blessed with a diverse eco-system. The frequently fog-shrouded lake of the name- Mingchi means bright lake-is nestled beautifully amidst the mountains and is surrounded by planted cryptomeria and old-growth cypress.
